Since her first piece of literature, a self-published collection of poems "Double Persephone" in 1961, Atwood has written over 100 novels, poems, anthologies, children's books and short stories. Some of her most recognized and awarded include The Blind Assassin, The Handmaid's Tale, Cat's Eye, Surfacing and The Edible Woman.
| Atwood has also recieved some impressive awards and honorary degrees from various universities such as the University of Waterloo, Queen's, Concordia, McMaster, Harvard and her most recent, the National University of Ireland. Some of her awards include the Governor General's Award, the Trillium Book Award, the Helmerich Award and the Booker Prize.
